PVDF Piping System: Installation Guidelines and Best Practices

PVDF (Polyvinylidene Fluoride) pipes are renowned for their long-term usability within a temperature range of -40℃ to +150℃. They are widely employed in critical production domains like semiconductor electronics, ultrapure water transportation, and chemical processing. To ensure a leak-free and stable pressure system, PVDF pipelines usually adopt heat fusion welding for installation.

Core Principles
The essence of PVDF pipe construction lies in the prefabrication and installation of welded joints. PVDF, a high-molecular material, is melted through infrared heating and subsequently fused under external force. Once cooled, the joint boasts high tensile strength and elongation at break. An automated heat welding machine is commonly used for the fusion process.

Welding Steps:

Preparation: Assemble the same specifications of PVDF pipes, fittings, and an automated welding machine. Common models include GF: IR63/IR225, Argu: SP110/SP250/SP280.

Inspection: Prior to construction, examine the pipe ends for flatness and check for any damage incurred during transportation. If damaged, trim 4-5 cm off the pipe ends.

Cutting: Cut the pipes such that the ends are perpendicular to the pipe axis. Use specialized pipe cutters for this purpose.

Heating: Without rotating, insert the pipe end into the heating mold until it reaches the marked depth. Similarly, push the fitting onto the heating mold to the specified mark.

Insertion: After reaching the heating time, immediately remove the pipe and fitting from the heating mold and quickly insert them, without rotation, to the molten depth to form a uniform flange at the joint.


Alignment: Within the prescribed processing time, slight rotation for alignment is allowed. Forced realignment after this period is strictly prohibited. Ensure that the pipes and fittings are aligned without any tilting.

Cooling: During the specified cooling time, the newly formed joint should not be subjected to external forces.

Temperature Caution:
Maintain a heat fusion temperature between 260℃ and 280℃. Deviation from this range can result in incomplete fusion, posing a risk of leakage.
